The Department of Marketing at the University of Notre Dame is pleased to be hosting the upcoming AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium on June 8-12, 2016 on our campus in Notre Dame, Indiana.  

Now in its 51st year, the 2016 Consortium will bring together talented doctoral candidates and the world’s most distinguished marketing faculty to explore the frontiers of marketing thought.  The first Consortium was held in 1966. In 1997 the name was changed to the AMA-Sheth Doctoral Consortium in recognition of the Madhuri & Jagdish N. Sheth Foundation’s commitment to finance part of the Consortium on an ongoing basis with the establishment of an AMA Foundation endowed fund.  This year’s event will mark a return of the Consortium to Notre Dame, which hosted it in 1986.... a 30th anniversary celebration is in order!

2016 Theme: “The Fascinating Field of Marketing”

Our goal is to highlight the role of marketing thought in comprehending the ways in which the sprawling field of marketing impacts consumers, firms and societies as a whole, and what opportunities and challenges await in the future. 

We will carry on the traditions of leading scholars discussing the cutting-edge knowledge creation aspects of the discipline, the importance of knowledge dissemination, and lessons for achieving success in the classroom.  The promise and pitfalls in one's early academic career will also be examined, within an overall environment conducive to casual interaction and network-building among fellows and faculty.  In sum, it is our desire that the 2016 Consortium offer an exciting learning experience and memorable occasion for everyone involved.
